Introducing Mother by Emily Evans

Maternity wear designer Emily Evans is owner of celebrity and ChicFantastique-favourite boutique 9 London. This stylish beauty is a busy mum of three, astute business woman, and has found time to launch her first mummy-to-be skin care product this month. Simply called ‘Mother’ – the Super Stretch Mark cream is the first in her ambitious new skin care range.

It’s no surprise that the very chic Emily is inspired and influenced by the likes of bohemian queen Talitha Getty, 70s muse Anita Pallenberg, Vogue editor Anna dello Russo, fashion blogger Susie Bubble, model Laura Bailey and ultimate style icon Coco Chanel. Baby M and I dropped by to her Sloane Square store to catch up with Emily …

What defines maternity wear style today? Layers or simple chic?
Definitely simple chic – keep lines clean and don’t add any extra bulk.

Black or colour?
Black is always a popular choice in the winter, especially denim and black is also a popular choice for the capsule working wardrobe. Colour is great for the evening and will always get you noticed.

Sparkle this party season in this silver sequin kimono top. The gathered empire waist will grace your growing bump beautifully.

This limited edition gold maxi dress also comes in black and as you can see, it certainly sparkles. You will be the belle of the festive ball. The sleeves are kept wide giving it a vintage look, and the deep V-neck will show off your new pregnancy cleavage.

Your favourite accessory?
A great bag that can double up as a baby bag when little one has arrived.

Ultimate skin care tip?
Lots of moisturiser and of course my stretch mark cream!

ChicFantastique adores this deep plum maxi. Style tip: show off toned upper arms and shoulders, and dust with body bronzer for an elegant party look. Loving Elizabeth Arden Sheer Body Bronzer.

Your favourite party moment?
When I met my husband Matthew.

Is Mother the first of a skin care range?
Yes, it is the first of 4 maternity products. Next will be a miracle oil, a bust firmer and a menthol foot gel – a perfect quartet of must-have mummy-to-be products. Summer 2012 will see the launch of Emily Evans baby range.

(Baby M cannot wait for the baby skin care range)

Talitha Getty inspired the being-a-mum with style look. Not a frumpy jumper to be seen.

The ChicFantastique verdict on Mother…

From the pretty Babushka Doll packaging to the gorgeous ingredients, ChicFantastique has been testing out this cream and I’ve fallen in love as it melts into my skin, and the fragrance lasts – I wake up to the fresh scent of lavender, patchouli, geranium and bergamot  each morning. These natural ingredients have been carefully selected to help calm and de-stress the skin. It deeply hydrates without leaving a whiff of slick residue.

The cream is in an easy to use pump, and I’ve taken to rubbing it all over my body while my skin is still warm after my bath or shower.

A beautiful feeling comes over me as Baby M nuzzles into my neck and falls asleep against me. I feel like a truly wonderful mother with help from Emily Evans Mother.

The stretch mark cream comes in a 300ml bottle and is priced at £38. Visit 9 London, Pavillion Road, Sloane Square and Harrods of Knightsbridge, London.
