An afternoon tea at the Saatchi Gallery is not your typical ‘hen’ weekend. But the thought on L-plates, a neon feather boa and a less than attractive tiara just was not our cup of tea. Speaking of cups of tea…we planned the perfect afternoon tea treat for our blushing bride-to-be.
And for me? Gluten free goodies, and soya milk for my tea. Thank you. It’s the little things just done so well, and set in a fabulous art space. From over-sized installations, to the magnificent soap wall as the entrance piece to the bathrooms.
The food was just great too. Sweet things, chocolate things, mini sandwiches and all presented beautifully. Of course one must have a glass of champagne as well as a cup of tea to complete the look.
The Mess at Saatchi Gallery proved to be a very civilised start to our ‘hen’ weekend. It is a short walk from Sloane Square Tube, and not far from my other indulgence, 9 London by Emily Evans. Shopping and high tea…glorious Saturday afternoon treats.
The sandwiches were gluten-free with salmon, cream cheese and rocket, egg and cress, and cucumber. The sweet treats were a melt-in-my-mouth dark chocolate truffle, mini Pavlova and a berry jelly presented in a shot glass. Champagne was Pommery Brut Royal NV.
