Day 2: DAKS London

Like a giant piece of patterned Lego making its way through the floor. This was the teaser that headed the DAKSLondon catwalk for day two of London Fashion Week SS13. The show was produced by Inca Productions, a London and New York based creative event agency who are particularly hands on with the shows they design and produce.

DAKSLondon – Sharp, sleek pony-tails with side partings, boyish-shoulders and drop waists. Sheer silks and organza blouses with tailored cocktail shorts. Heavy beaded bodices, leather skirt suits, check trench, check skirts gently layered in chiffon, silk floor-length jump suits. DAKS teased us with their signature check used as finishing touches to coats and skinny belts. And then all of a sudden there it was in full glory – from a very structured Trench to a fabulous bell-shaped cape (probably our favourite piece along with a divine black all-in-one skinny strapped jump suit, so light-weight it took on a life of its own).

Delicate black, browns and creams, crisp whites, apricots and heavy beading with a hint of lizard print. This collection weaved in and out of how the winter moves into spring. We were treated to the classique tailoring and check print that is the DAKS signature with a knee-length mini skirt in the check with a sheer black over lay. Modern essentials!

And the designer behind this sleek display of DAKS sophistication? Sheila McKain-Waid who was more than happy to speak with bloggers, press alike straight after her appreciative wave to the audience.

I wasn’t privy to a front row goodie bag, but I am told it was chocolates and a tres cute clutch.

It was also lovely to see so many mums (and dads) with their little ones. It was their first fashion show for some. So chic!
