London Collections is becoming a good excuse for many designers to embrace the world of menswear and unleash their creative take on the world of men’s fashion.
One such design duo due to launch their menswear range at this year’s London Collections will be husband-and-wife design team Lynda Cohen Kinne and Daniel Kinne of A La Disposition. If the range is anything like their women’s collection, we are in for fantastical structured pieces – a flair for the dramatic, and perhaps an ode to Manga and that Goth-chic hiding within all of us. When viewing their previous women’s collections, Think Yayoi Kusama (and her recent collaboration with Louis Vuitton). Both Lynda and Daniel are skilled tailors and experts in corset making. You can find them in London’s Carnaby Street.
London Collections: Monday 7th January
Seven Dials, Covent Garden will be hosting a series of POP UPs during London Collections, and this is the befitting location for A La Disposition’s show which is titled Black Snow. We have been promised wonderfully skilled tailoring of black and grey hues with flashes of red. I have stirrings of utter excitement based on the below peak-a-boo sketch that was sent to me. I’m thinking that there is going to be a forbidden Lady Chatterly’s Lover meets devilishly evocative character from an Edgar Allan Poe story.
A La Disposition aren’t strangers to the catwalk, having appeared at New York Fashion Week as far back as Spring 2006. Their arrival at London Fashion Week occurred two whole seasons ago when they treated us to a presentation of cheeky top hats paired with fabulously over the top dresses, waistcoats and Westwood-esque style skirts. It was a magical mystery tour of Tim Burton’s private Dickens or Alice In Wonderland.
You will have to anxiously wait until after Monday afternoon to find out the look and the feel of their much-anticipated menswear collection. However until then, here is a trip down a very visual memory lane. Welcome to the strange, yet fantastic world of A La Disposition.
Here is a selection of images from their February 2012 Presentation at the Freemason’s House, London Fashion Week.

Finally, here is my pick of my lust-have items currently available from the A La Disposition online store. Let’s start with this simply amazing shoe boot, called the claw boot in striking emerald green, the feathered bolero, and the wonderful and exceptionally structured wrap dress.
