Elegant up-do’s, dewy make-up with strong eye-liner created by Val Garner, and a catwalk of Tippi Hedrens’ – Alice Temperley was always going to be a crowd-pleaser.
Today is Day 3 of London Fashion Week and the setting for the unveiling of Temperley’s LFW 2013 collection titled ‘Byrds’ was The Dorchester on London’s Park Lane.
The details and styles were reminiscent of an elegant Hollywood era, with Temperley being quoted as saying she took influences from a Hitchcock movie era, in particular his ‘The Birds’ star Tippi Hedren.
The venue was perfectly opulent with all the trimmings of a grand ballroom and the catwalk was minimal – clean, sleek and white.
I arrived backstage absolutely ravished and yearning a coffee. I ordered a fruit salad and coffee and it arrived on a silver tray. And so my day of elegance began!
Box pleat skirts hemmed at the knee. Cream shift dresses embellished with beading and crystals, gold over-coats tied at the waist, and navy and black floor length evening dresses beautifully cut to show a hint of shoulder and elegant collar bone.
Fabrics ranged from sheer and soft to heavy in detail and texture.
Temperley herself was dressed in a back suit with a cream, collared blouse. Each of the Temperley team carefully dressed in a piece from her collection. All looked stunning and a walking advertisement for this much desired label.
Joining Pixie front row was British Actress Alice Eve and model, style icon Olivia Palermo. All were flawless in their choice of outfit and not a hair out of place. Exactly how a Temperley front row should look.
Temperley once again had shoes from Charlotte Olympia. Other eye-catching styling was the cute leather gloves. My new lust-have.
I make no secret I’m a huge fan of the Temperley label, the Somerset Collection, and Alice herself.
I’m in no way sponsored by the Temperley team, this was a delightful show, beautifully and seamlessly put together. The collection is sure to be hot on the red carpet for Cannes Film Festival.
