One year ago, almost to the day, we headed out of London (a strange thing I know) to a little town called Olney for what we were promised was going to be a very cool and rather fashionable surprise. It was indeed a wonderful surprise to be introduced to a really cool building that houses POP The Fashion Store, and to meet one of the most energetic, inspiring and intelligent women I’ve had the pleasure to meet – Kaisa Larkas.
And now, a year later, POP The Fashion Store is celebrating its first birthday.
It’s a wonderful feeling in this current economy that going out on your own to set up a business that you believe in and being a success is still achievable.
For those of us who have become fans of POP The Fashion Store, this little dream of hand-picked fashion labels is going from strength to strength, but never straying from its core value of being a boutique. Each season Kaisa chooses cool and funky key pieces by UK and Scandinavian designers. My favourites to date are Moxham, Jane Goodchild zipped clutches, Finsk Wedges.
Today I am wearing my new and unusual dress from Samuji Helsinki.
Cool and chic navy and cream stripes with the deepest pockets. Worn with black tights, and hot fuchsia flats.
I wore this to London Fashion week with red peep-toes, but was running around too much to get a snap.
I’m in the pink with this one. It’s an unusual yet flattering cut. Thank you #POPTheFashionStore
Earlier this year the Store was given the prestigious title of ‘Inspiring Independent for 2013’ by Drapers.
Kaisa Larkas is also the blogger behind Mum-On-The-Run, the musings of a thirty-something freelance journalist and fashion and fitness junkie.
