Spa Review: Whatley Manor, Cotswolds

The official low-down

The Aquarias Spa at Whatley Manor is set in acres of tranquil, lush manicured gardens. The main hotel is known for its wonderful stays and restaurant – attracting visitors who want county chic with a twist of manor house luxe. The Spa offers one of the largest hydrotherapy and thermal circuits in the UK, including a wave dream sensory room, tepidarium, steam grotto and experience showers. Face and body treatments from luxury brand Natura Bissé are the latest buzz in beauty.

Sunday sessions

I had no idea what to expect when I was invited by Whatley Manor to experience the Natura Bissé oxygen bubble. It sounded far too scientific for my liking on a Sunday for this weekend warrior. However if it is a favourite of Nichole Ritchie and Rita Ora, then I was excited.

The Oxygen Bubble is a completely isolated dome where the air you breathe is exactly 99.995% pure. It’s the perfect environment in which bare and treated skin should be allowed to rejuvenated and detox for 90 minutes.

The juice menu is impressive. I couldn’t move past the green kale, and with a copy of the latest fashion magazines beside each lounger, my phone was promptly locked away. I headed to the salt scrub shower, and then sank back into my lounger and indulged in their outdoor woodland view.

Highs – the thermal outdoor pool, the little shot of strawberry smoothie post treatment, my soya latte served in a Boden cup, the beetroot and goats curd salad with candied walnuts, and the smoothie menu.

Must-try treatments – The Diamond Natura Bissé anti-aging and sleep inducing facial with a back, shoulder and arm massage for good measure.

The result – days later my skin was soft, pores reduced, cheeks nicely peachy, and eye colour bright blue and crystal clear.
